Dr. Vacharee Fell and Dr. Krisena Borenstein are a
mother-daughter team of exceptional orthodontists. Together, they strive to give each patient the best smile possible.

Outside the Office
Dr. Borenstein and her husband have two kids, Kate and Ben. As a family, they love spending time at the beach. Dr. Borenstein’s personal interests include alpine skiing, exploring new places, and trying new restaurants. This year, she is the President of a charity group, the Luminaires, a charity that raises money for the Doheny Eye Institute, whose mission is to conserve, improve, and restore human eyesight.  She is also involved with the March of Dimes and the Independent School Alliance charities.  

“Every patient is unique and different. That is what keeps my job exciting! Not only is every patient’s smile different, but their personalities and stories are different as well. Trying to figure out what treatment is best for each patient is like solving a new puzzle each day.”

Dr. Krisena Borenstein attended dental school at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Then she completed a three-year residency in orthodontics at UCLA, where she earned a master’s degree in oral biology, as well as her certificate to practice as an orthodontic specialist for children and adults. She has also been given the opportunity to work as a faculty member at the UCLA School of Dentistry in the Orthodontic Department. She finds it very rewarding and fun to work directly with the current orthodontic residents in the clinic.

Both Drs. Fell and Borenstein attend many continuing education meetings and conferences. Their mission is to stay up to date with the latest technology in the field in order to provide the best care for their patients. Dr. Borenstein is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics, and the Academy for Orthodontic Excellence, as well as other orthodontic study clubs. The combination of those organizations, as well as her affiliation with the university, gives Dr. Borenstein exposure to all the latest developments in the orthodontic field.

Dr. Borenstein and her husband have two kids, Kate and Ben. As a family, they love spending time at the beach. Dr. Borenstein’s personal interests include alpine skiing, exploring new places, and trying new restaurants. Dr. Borenstein is an avid skier and loves taking her kids to the mountains when she can. She started playing the piano at 5 years old and played seriously though college.

Dr. Fell is married and lives with her family in West L.A. She enjoys tennis, alpine skiing, and traveling. She often visits her family in Bangkok, Thailand and has lectured to dental students and faculty there.

Dr. Vacharee B. Fell has practiced in Culver City for more than 20 years. She specializes in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics for children and adults. Dr. Fell completed her postdoctoral training in orthodontics at Northwestern University in Chicago, where she received her Master of Science and certification in orthodontics from its School of Dentistry. Her master’s thesis research, “Enamel Surfaces Characteristics on Removal of Bonded Orthodontic Brackets,” was published in the American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics.

In 1989, Dr. Fell achieved board certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). Board certification is the culmination of a five- to ten-year process of written and oral examination and an independent review of treated patients. This distinction is held by approximately 25% of practicing orthodontists. While maintaining a full-time private practice, Dr. Fell also holds an academic appointment at the UCLA School of Dentistry, Orthodontics Department. In addition to teaching in the clinic part-time, she helped to develop and now teaches the course for the UCLA orthodontics residents to prepare them for ABO certification.

Dr. Fell is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the California Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, Western Los Angeles Dental Society, American Association of Women Dentists, and the Los Angeles Association of Women Dentists. She is also a member of the advisory board for the Dental Hygiene School at West Los Angeles College.

Dr. Fell is married and lives with her family in West L.A. She enjoys tennis, alpine skiing, and traveling. She often visits her family in Bangkok, Thailand and has lectured to dental students and faculty there.
